The 2025-26 financial year ran from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026 and used the same rates as the year before. The change came on 1 July 2026, when the lowest rate was cut again as the next stage of the legislated tax cuts.
Unchanged from 2024-25: 16%, 30%, 37% and 45%, with thresholds at $45,000, $135,000 and $190,000.
From 1 July 2026 the rate on income between $18,201 and $45,000 fell by one percentage point.
That band is $26,800 wide, so a full percentage point is $268 a year for anyone earning above $45,000.
Returns for 2025-26 are due by 31 October 2026, or later through a registered tax agent.
Resident individual rates. These figures exclude the 2% Medicare levy.

Both are offered here. The 2025-26 year ended on 30 June 2026 and is the return most people are lodging now. The 2026-27 year started on 1 July 2026 and is the one your current pay falls in. The rates differ between them, so the choice matters.
Nil up to $18,200, then 15% to $45,000, 30% to $135,000, 37% to $190,000, and 45% above that. The 2% Medicare levy applies on top for most residents.
Up to $268 a year. The rate on the $18,201 to $45,000 band fell from 16% to 15%, and that band is $26,800 wide, so one percentage point is $268. Anyone earning above $45,000 gets the full amount, and below that you get one percent of the income above $18,200.
31 October 2026 if you lodge it yourself. If you use a registered tax agent and are on their books before that date, you can usually have until 15 May 2027. Most electronically lodged returns are processed within about two weeks.
